A research study conducted in PG dept of Biotechnology, Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar by Arun Dev Sharma and Inderjeet Kaur has found Eucalyptol (1,8 cineole) from eucalyptus essential oil to be a potential inhibitor of COVID 19 corona virus infection.
Eucalyptol (1,8 cineole) is one of the compounds found in Eucalyptus Globulus also known as the common Blue Gum.
Eucalyptus has long been used by indigenous cultures to fight off infection, for respiratory and muscular ailments and it is well known for it’s beneficial effects in relieving symptoms of the common cold and flu through inhalation and topical application.
